Daniel

Daniel

Daniel was born in Toronto on March 27, 1990, the youngest and third child of Marisa and Stan. Although he was a small baby, he developed quickly into a vigorous, healthy child.

As Daniel got older, it became clear that he was naturally athletic. He began to excel in both soccer and hockey, but ultimately, hockey was where he chose to focus his skills. Over the years, he played for the Vaughan Rangers, Markham Islanders, and the OMHA’s Richmond Hill Stars, always wearing #11 and often sporting a ‘C’ on his chest.

But hockey wasn’t the only thing Daniel was passionate about. He loved his community, his family and friends, and of course his beagle, Leo. He was a talented musician, playing the clarinet in school, and even taught himself the piano, guitar, and harmonica. He also seemed to be quite the salesman, having a knack for selling things on Craigslist and eBay.

Sadly, on February 15, 2007, Daniel was diagnosed with a brain-stem tumor, resulting in radiation treatment and chemotherapy. Despite his courageous battle with this rare form of brain cancer. Daniel managed to maintain an active lifestyle, never once complaining or asking “why me?”.

In 2008, Daniel graduated from De La Salle High School and was accepted into Ryerson University to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce. After holding his own for 18 months, on August of that same year, at the tender age of 18, Daniel succumbed to the illness.

We hope that his faith, courage, strength, passionate love for life, and devotion to his family and friends will continue to inspire others. Before he passed, he would always say “please find a cure”.
